Imaginary Alarms are the Worst

I had my last final for the semester this morning at 9 am right? Right. So, as a great student-athlete, I was "planning" on waking up early to study a little more before heading over to the business school. Therefore, you would think I would be smart enough to set my alarm for when I needed to wake up. Wrong again. I totally passed out and forgot to set my alarm, so your girl rolled out of bed, checked my phone, and saw "8:40".
I don't think I've ever moved so fast.
I jumped out of bed, brushed my teeth (hygiene is very important), got dressed, and ran out the door. Luckily, my exam wasn't that challenging, so I think I did pretty good on it! Lesson learned. Kinda.
If there's one thing I've learned throughout my time in college it's this:
FREAKING OUT IS USELESS!
If the same thing that happened to me this morning happened during my freshman year, you would've caught me hyperventilating, rushing to the point of destruction, and all on the verge of tears.
After being late so many times, losing so many things, and forgetting almost everything you could imagine, I've learned that CALM is the best git you can give yourself. That's easier said than done. Hear me out.
What's the worst thing that could have happened this morning? - 5-10 minutes late to my exam
Okay then what? - Look stupid in front of the class, get points deducted (never happens)
Then what? - Honestly nothing. I would pass the class with flying colors!
This trick has allowed me to cruise through my years as an upperclassmen. Even though I have always been on the chill side when it comes to life's challenges, there is always that one thing that can push anyone over the edge of anxiety. Let me encourage you by saying:
1. No matter what it is, it happens to everyone
2. You are definitely more put-together than I ever will be
3. If God takes care of the birds, he'll take care of you too, even though it doesn't seem like it in the moment
So with that, smile and remind someone that there is nothing to worry about. Everything will work out the way it needs to work out. Stay positive and let your light shine!
I just went shopping for a few dresses that I needed for this week, now it's time to pack and get ready for practice tonight! About 2 hours of some hard work and national championship training. So excited!
